Levandowski’s USDA Choice Black Angus Beef is the standard for superiority; it is chosen from the best Choice and Prime grades of beef and is renowned for its superior taste, tenderness and juiciness. The USDA graders evaluate Angus-influenced cattle and require superior standards for marbling, tenderness and leanness to carry the USDA Black Angus Beef brand.

There are several characteristics that contribute to the superior taste of our Levandowski’s USDA Choice Black Angus Beef. These are marbling of the cut, the maturity of the cattle, the quality appearance and leanness.

  • Marbling is the main contributor to beef’s flavor and juiciness. Medium to fine marbling texture gives that melt in your mouth texture and ensures great taste in every bite.
  • Maturity youthful maturity ensures superior color, texture and firmness. Our cattle must 30 months or younger in age.
  • Leanness and Quality Appearance criteria consist of cattle that do not have an excess fat cover, furthermore is has a uniform presentation and is void of dark cuttings or appearances.

L&L Certified Ground Beef

L&L Certified products are ground beef at its fresh, flavorful best! The meat departments at each of our stores grind beef several times daily; we do not use Carbon Dioxide or add color to increase the shelf life.

Red Label for Ground Beef The red label indicates a 73% Lean/27% fat grind. A popular choice for burgers. The grind delivers that good old-fashions hamburger taste. Our lowest –priced ground beef. (Best value)
The lt. blue label indicates an 80% Lean/20% fat grind. Delicious in sauces, casseroles, burgers and any dish. Less inclined to be dry when overcooked than learner blends. Blue Label for Ground Chuck
  The burgundy label indicates an 85% Lean/15% fat grind. A great blend for almost any recipe. Still very low in fat, so avoid overcooking to maximize juiciness.
The dark blue label indicates a 90% Lean/10% fat grind. Our lowest-fat ground beef. Wonderful cooked and mixed with sauces. When used in burgers, reduce cooking time to retain juiciness. Dark Blue Label for Ground Sirloin

Chairman’s Reserve Beef
When selecting Chairman's Reserve, we start by identifying three primary characteristics — marbling, maturity, and muscle texture — to ensure the highest level of tenderness, juiciness, and flavor possible. We developed strict specifications around these characteristics, thereby creating a certification process. This insures only beef carcasses with the certification characteristics will be selected or "reserved."

Beef tenderness is dependent upon maturity and muscle texture. Young animals have softer, more tender muscles. Chairman's Reserve selects only the youngest USDA recognized beef maturity group. In addition, specifications exclude cattle with characteristics indicating the likelihood of undesirable muscle texture or eating quality. The Best Choice

Beef's flavor and juiciness are largely determined by small flecks of fat marbling distributed throughout the muscle. More marbling delivers more flavor and Chairman's Reserve specifications require significant marbling (see chart at right).

Levandowski’s Natural Pork

Today's pork is leaner than ever. That means you can cook healthier for your family and won't miss the variety of pork. Levandowski’s Natural Pork is all natural and has no preservatives or no additives used to extend the shelf life or enhance the flavor of the meat. Many other pork products you will find at other retailers are “pumped”. This is a process done at the processor were a saline solution is injected into the cut to add moisture to the meat.

Levandowski’s Natural Pork is very fresh, flavorful and juicy. Because it is so fresh, be sure to avoid overcooking which will dry out the meat; “think pink” when cooking pork.

Lean Pork can be part of a diet low in fat, calories and cholesterol. Today's pork loin center cut is 42% leaner than 10 years ago. When trimmed of visible fat, most fresh pork cuts qualify as "lean" because they contain less than 10% fat. Pork is a high source of protein and is a good dietary source of thiamin and other B vitamins.

Levandowski’s Sausage Company, owned and operated by L&L Food Centers, produces superior quality products from only the finest ingredients in our USDA federally Inspected Lansing smokehouse. The sausage company uses old world recipes handed down through generations of the Levandowski family, the meat experts of Levandowski’s Sausage Company make a variety of flavorful smoked and fresh sausages as well as hams, brisket, chicken, pork and ribs found exclusively at L&L Food Centers.
